This month our Project Stewardship group will be participating in a Video Production course at SUNY College at Old Westbury with Media & Communications professor, Dr. Laura Chipley. We will be there for ONE class session and then participate with college students in relation to their final projects to gain some direct exposure during a second (and possible third) session.
The goal of the course is to use audio-visual tools to communicate in creative and effective ways, and not to simply mirror television and commercial films. Hands-on practice with video equipment and screenings of completed works will help to illustrate different production values and develop a framework for critical analysis.
We will work out details prior to November and our plans will be discussed with our Project Stewardship participants. After class sessions, we will have snack at campus cafe and discuss what participants have learned.
