This month we will offer part one of our orientation training programs “Find Your Voice In Social Action”. Training is geared toward those participating in our Project Stewardship program and for our new volunteers and interns! Participants will learn from history, particularly from the progressive era of the early 20th century highlighting the benefits of civic engagement, outlining our philosophy, and laying the groundwork for self and social development.
Following our “Find Your Voice in Social Action” session, we will kick off the season with a Fall Equinox Celebration! We are privileged to have Lorna Sophocleous, Holistic Wellness Consultant, who will discuss seasonal remedies from ancient times and how they are used today. She will provide tips to prevent and heal illness (mind and body) with focus on cultured foods and others that help boost immune and digestive systems. Interesting and delicious home remedies will be sampled and special refreshments will be served.
Part two of our orientation training program, “Nature Communities” will be held again during Spring 2018. Both trainings provide the background needed for young people to take on an array of different volunteer opportunities while enjoying time with peers. Become teachers, leaders and advocates on behalf of oneself, others and Earth!
