The Children’s Sangha has developed SPIRALS – Talent and Skills Development Workshops which showcase talents to inspire! We will introduce SPIRALS in 2015 with focus on “The Arts.” Workshops include performances, demonstrations, exhibits and hands-on activities organized and presented by our young people.
Just as the spiral represents the process of learning and growing, it reveals that life does not proceed in a straight line. The path of life more closely resembles a spiral. We seem to pass the same point over and over again but from a different perspective each time. The spiral stands for coming into being. It is the journey of life! We welcome the Long Island community in supporting our young people and nurturing their gifts while we learn from one another.
We are proud to announce that Gifted Souls Theatre Program founded by Samantha Williams, a SUNY College at Old Westbury senior, will be participating in SPIRALS! Samantha was recently featured on mtvU for her work as a “changemaker” in her community. Each of the eight students selected by mtvU, an award-winning channel produced by MTV, was chosen for their passion and commitment for social causes. She established her program in 2013 in partnership with SUNY College at Old Westbury’s Office of First-Year Experience in order to provide students with an opportunity to express themselves through various art forms. I have been lucky enough to witness performances of Gifted Souls in person. The musical and artistic talent of these young people is awe-inspiring!
Gifted Souls has performed on the SUNY Old Westbury campus to raise funds for different causes. SPIRALS will help to contribute to a cause of their choice via half the proceeds from the SPIRALS event.
If interested in attending the SPIRALS event with Gifted Souls, please subscribe to our newsletter list at the top of this page, and we will be sure to send you an announcement once scheduled.
