April 17: Compassionate Community Meeting [via Zoom]

Those on our e-mail list received an update yesterday about our COMPASSIONATE COMMUNITIES ACTION PLAN that we are implementing with young adults who participate in our Project Stewardship and Civic Mentoring programs, working together to share their COMPASSION and embark on SOCIAL ACTION to assist community members impacted by COVID-19! We will have our first ZOOM meeting this month to plan and begin work on a range of projects including the following:

o Creation of 20 second “gratitude videos” to send to healthcare personnel, first responders and others for their dedication and sacrifice.

o Collaboration on short “thinking of you” videos and heart-felt greeting cards for veterans, individuals with special needs living in residential facilities, and the elderly who are alone and may be experiencing anxiety during this difficult time.

o Organizing care packages for hospitals, veteran’s homes and nursing care facilities with items of need and small gifts to uplift spirits!

o Writing advocacy letters to local politicians to raise our voices for those whose voices are not heard and need to be protected from undue exposure to COVID-19!

We are grateful for the camaraderie of working together with other community members and organizations towards the common good!
