February 26 & 28: Black Panther Movie & Workshop

The Women’s Diversity Network (WDN)’s Youth Council and SUNY College at Old Westbury’s American Studies & First Year Experience Departments will be collaborating on a film screening of Black Panther. It will be followed by the workshop, Black Panther Unpacked, the same week.

The WDN Youth Council will facilitate the workshop and encourage discussion on current social issues by using quotes from the Black Panther movie. Quotes from the movie that will be displayed around the room. Students will select a quote that resonates with them. They will then be grouped according to the quote they select. In small groups, they will discuss why that quote means something to them and may relate it to the First Year reader, The Coming. We will share out and come together through this engaging workshop.

Participants in The Children’s Sangha’s Student Leadership and Project Stewardship programs will assist with and attend this two-day special event!
