September 20: Community Support Group – Kids Who Fall Through the Cracks

This month’s Community Support Group will relate to the Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) approach developed by Dr. Ross W. Greene and Whole-Child Learning Methods (to assist young people in both the home and educational setting). Christine Keller will be facilitating an interactive presentation with Dr. Lisa LoPinto (Clinical Psychologist, CPS Consultant) and Chava Blitzer, Director of CCMHS Academy for Special Learning Needs entitled The Kids Who Fall Through the Cracks

This presentation challenges the one-size-fits-all approach to addressing behavioral challenges with students, discussing Kids Who Fall Through The Cracks and the importance of a “whole-child” approach to teaching, learning, and living, in which a community of care, cooperation, and compassion enables children to find personal meaning in learning, grow at their developmental pace, and cultivate a feeling of self-worth for who they are and how they learn. Attendees will be taught how to initiate skill building and gain access to educational tools that customize the learning and production process.

Follow-up opportunities will be provided for participants to learn more about methods presented.

Feel free to view the Assessment of Lagging Skills and Unsolved Problems Sheet and bring a completed copy to the meeting for guidance.

Christine Keller, who has received advanced training in the CPS approach, facilitates our group and is often joined by either Dr. Monica DeSchryver or Dr. Lisa LoPinto, certified CPS providers. Questions about how to apply CPS in the home or school setting are are common topics. Learn how to view challenging behavior through new lenses and navigate problem situations. Connect with one another through open discussion and obtain resource information and support. Young adults may also participate!

Please REGISTER for this month’s meeting below or complete our Community Support Group annual membership application. An annual membership donation includes all meetings for the year and CPS Training. No fee for students.

CPS is an approach applicable to everyone! We all have different abilities and needs. We welcome you to be part of our collaborative community!
